Where in Middle-Earth Would I Live? Friday, December 6, 2002 -|- 05:31 a.m.
If I lived in Middle-Earth, it would be in: The Shire The rolling green hills, the springtime weather, and especially being surrounded by the ones you love makes the Shire a comfortable area for you. You love being surrounded only by the ones you care about, and you only desire this in an environment that is vast and open to nature, unlike in the cities or the caves. | Ah, the Shire. Hobbit heaven. Everywhere you turn, an adorable hobbit to cuddle. Anyone surprised? I'm not.
Hobbity good fic Monday, December 2, 2002 -|- 08:26 p.m.
For quite a while I have browsed the annals of fanfic.net for hobbit stories. There have been several excellent ones that I have read and eagerly look for the updated chapters to. Currently I am reading a very sweet one on the hobbits from someone else's point of view.
The Care and Feeding of Hobbits Ruminations on the Little People by Boromir, Man of Gondor. This author knows the dear hobbits well. The chapters are short but adorable, just like the hobbits themselves. If you love hobbits, or even want to learn a little about them, then this is the fic to read.
What kind of evil are you? Sunday, December 1, 2002 -|- 11:43 p.m.
See, I'm not evil. It's all just an accident. I'm safe, come cuddle me :p
Home again Saturday, November 30, 2002 -|- 02:31 a.m.
I drove home to my parent's house for Thanksgiving this year, haven't been home for over a year. Think they were going bonkers missing me. It's nice to see them again and see my cats. But I'm glad I live away from them now. Twenty two years at home is enough for any person. It's great to go home, especially when you know you can leave again.
Watched Enemy at the Gates tonight, a movie I've had for almost a year and had yet to watch. I have to say I liked it. It's a war movie, so it was a bit bloody, and was based on a true story. But you know hollywood, I'm sure they inflated it a bit for dramatic purposes. Believe it or not, I think it had one of the most realistic sex scenes I've seen that was still tastfully done. There was one brief butt shot, but everything else was covered. It wasn't terribly romantic. It's the middle of war, dirty, run down setting, sleeping soldiers on the right and left of them. Can't tell if she was really enjoying it or was in some pain, as her eyes were wide open and staring the whole time. But anyway, to me it was about comfort. Two people finding their own little spark of hope in such depressing times. And that made it beautiful to me.
What do you mean I'm an elf? Saturday, November 23, 2002 -|- 01:06 a.m.
I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Ranger Mage
Alignment: Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.
Race: Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.
Primary Class: Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.
Secondary Class: Mages harness the magical energies for their own use. Spells, spell books, and long hours in the library are their loves. While often not physically strong, their mental talents can make up for this.
Deity: Solonor Thelandria is the Chaotic Good elven god of archery and the hunt. He is also known as the Keen Eye, the Great Archer, and the Forest Hunter. His followers respect nature, and only hunt when needed, but are quick to defend the forest from intruders. Their favorite weapon is the bow, and they tend to be extremely talented with it. Solonor Thelandria's symbol is an arrow with green fletchings.
Find out What D&D Character Are You?, courtesy of NeppyMan (e-mail)
Now why am I an elf? I'm clearly a halfling fancier. I'd much rather be a halfling. Good food, comfortable clothes, ah what a life. Ah well, D&D halflings aren't quite the same as hobbits, so I'll forgive them this time. Hey, at least they didn't say I was a dwarf or I'd really know they were lying.
In other news, Heero was saying that if this page had a comment section he would say that I should dress more like my nerdslut appeal. But then, more of our geek friends hitting on me is all he needs.
Interesting results Tuesday, November 19, 2002 -|- 01:47 a.m.
I decided I should not play with online tests as the results can be... interesting.
Took the How Seme are you? test. I got 120% seme. I am afraid. And yet with only one answer change, I got only 20% seme. Uke really.
Which is true? I think they both are. Each is an aspect of my personality. Scary isn't it? Personally, I think it was the what's your type question that made the difference.
Also took the What's your sexual appeal? test and got What's your sexual appeal? brought to you by Quizilla I'm offically weirded out. Stopping playing with tests now.
Harry Potter extra scene Tuesday, November 19, 2002 -|- 01:04 a.m.
Yes, my dear WMC, there is indeed an extra scene in The Chamber of Secrets after the credits are over. Have you not learned from anime? I like watching credits all the way through, plus I was warned that there would be something as we were there with a large group, one of whom had seen it three times already. It's a short scene, but if you either do or don't like Gideroy Lockhart, you will be pleased I think.
Alright, perhaps he could shed a few pounds and I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised to see Lucius Malfoy strolling through Lothlorien or Mirkwood. Gee, hope he isn't related to anyone we know ;p
To find out just how depraved I am, I looked up the ages of the three actors that play the Harry Potter trio. Seems the actress playing Hermione is 12 (the age they should be in the movie) while Ron and I believe Harry are actually 14. Well I feel slightly better being attracted to a 14 year old than a 12 year old. I didn't think their voices started changing that early. Bah, I maintain I just like short young men, not children.
Harry Potter movie Sunday, November 17, 2002 -|- 03:23 a.m.
Just got back from seeing the new Harry Potter movie. I have to say I'm both pleased and disappointed. There were moments, especially near the beginning that I thought were perfect. Like Mr. Weasly's reaction to hearing about the boys taking the car. That was great. And I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of Lockhart. From the pictures, I wasn't sure he was right for the part, but his performance is sterling.
But other parts were not so good. Especially towards the end. So much was left out. The movies seriously need to have more Fred and George. Where were those beaters during that quidditch match? And did anyone else notice Malfoy making eyes at Ron? I swear, at least 10 fanfics wrote themselves in that moment. Actually, I'm suddenly amused by the idea of Draco and Hermione fics. I think all his posturing is covering up his obvious jealously and who knows what else of her. Ooh, could be a dark fic indeed.
Seriously, I think Malfoy was just being jerky and challenging to Ron rather than actually making eyes. But sure looked that way. Ooh, challenge over what? Hermione maybe? :p I think I'm turning into a Ron/Hermione shipper.
I think Lucuis looks a bit like an elf. And not a house elf, mind you. Gah, that is *not* an elf. Well maybe Santa's variety, but that looks more almost goblin or imp like to me.
What was my point? Oh yes, more Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff seen in the movie! Yay, go other houses! Real glimpses of the crests. The costumer in me is happy about that. Tho will probably not be best seen until it comes out on DVD. Pause is a wonderful tool. But I wanted to see the Hufflepuff quidditch robes, darn it! Ah well.
But the end, the end! I think it was a bit flat. So much was cut, it just didn't make the kind of sense it could have. And Harry is an idiot with a plastic sword. Yeah, let me pick this thing up by its blade. Hello? Even if it was the most fake ornamental sword I've ever seen, come on, have some sense, boy! Oh and what was that line of Lucuis Malfoy's? Come to a sticky end? OMG! You who have seen it, know of what I speak. They're all pervs.
And speaking of pervs, my much denied shoutocon is showing again. I prefer Ron overall, but found myself attracted to Harry at points in the movie. I blame it on his growing up, the accent and blue eyes. I have a weakness for English accents and blue eyes. Explains why I fell so hard for Frodo. But those who haven't seen the movie, watch for the extra scene after the credits.
Overall, I'd say it's not as good a movie as the first. And that I'm better off not reading the book first so that all the holes are glaring me in the face.
What did you buy with LOTR? Sunday, November 17, 2002 -|- 02:21 a.m.
Had an interesting question posed to me this weekend. What did you buy when you bought the extended Edition of Fellowship of the Ring? Me? I went to Wal*Mart, bought the DVD, a box of kleenex, an air freshener, power bars and maxi pads :p Heehee. Goofy ne?
My Preciouss... Wednesday, November 13, 2002 -|- 11:15 p.m.
Picked up a copy of the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring last night. *squeeeeee!* More hobbity goodness. *drool* However, I will say that after seeing more hobbits that there are some that I don't need to add to the harem. That or they'd get highly ignored.
I'm amused little Milo got some feminine attention, even if he was distracted by food. Ok, technically, I don't think he is named, but I just think he looks like a Milo. He's the little guy seen in the party scene, beside a larger dark haired hobbit looking confused after Bilbo's "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." and now also the distracted from girl by food scene. Boy obviously doesn't understand my theory on hobbit pastimes.
I will say, the extended edition is much closer to the book. And more character development for everybody. There were times I'm not sure it flowed as smoothly as the theatrical edition, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm so used to the other or not. But it was absolutely worth it. Mostly it was just new footage added, but occasionally there was a scene altered. Throws me a bit, but I'll get used to it.
Yay, Sam gets his rope. Hmm, but no box 'o dirt. And still no mention it's Frodo's birthday too. Ah well, can't have everything I guess. My poor Frodo, want to cuddle him! His angst is so adorable, as are all of the fellowship hobbits.
Book party report Monday, November 11, 2002 -|- 10:12 p.m.
*sigh* Found the report for the book party the other day from Rings on the Range. The leader of the list, Rasputin the Evil Balrog put up her comments:
"I have to confess that I got extremely lucky in my win, as a far superior Hobbit costume arrived at the event about twenty minutes later, after the contest had concluded. If I were a truly noble person, I would probably have conceded my prizes to her, but since I’m an Evil Balrog, I walked away with prizes and a clear conscience. }:-)"
Oh the frustration. To check out the whole report, look here. Hopefully they'll put up pictures soon. I could have had prizes! Ah well. I'm the "far superior hobbit". :p
Also, they had some pics of the fabled Rivendell in sunny San Marcus :) One day...
Cute little boys Sunday, November 10, 2002 -|- 01:58 a.m.
Picked up the DVD for Fruits Basket and Fushigi Yuugi: Eikoden, the third in the OVA series. Fruits Basket is a freaking expensive DVD, not really sure why. Anyway, watched Eikoden when I got home. I'll try to avoid spoilers for those that haven't seen, but some are unavoidable. Just a friendly warning. I now have a new top of my most hated anime girls list. That Mayo is a total psycho bitch! Gah! But on the upside, chibi Mitsukake is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuute! The way he hangs on Shouka is so adorable! Squeeeee! Ehehehee! I always wanted to like Mitsukake because I like his story, but he just isn't cute as an adult, so I couldn't get into his character. But he's so adorable as a little boy. Eeeeeeheeheee! Chibi Hotohori is a cutie too :p But overall the OVA left me with some questions, and I could have done without the crappy CGI. I'm convinced there's one bit of mistranslation in the subs at the end. Can't tell. I need to brush up on my Japanese. This was my first time hearing any of the dub, and well, as I expected, you should run, run in fear of the dub if you know what's good for you! My ears, my ears! It's terrible. Bleh. Good thing DVDs give my the choice.
In other news, Seekers is updated! Wai, Wai! Aww, my character, Vaya hasn't reappeared yet. Ah well, in time. Building and maintaining a hobbit harem isn't all play you know. Hee :p Well maybe mostly, but that's not the point.
Would you like to take a survey? Sunday, November 10, 2002 -|- 01:41 a.m.
I took a survey today. Some sort of larger survey traveling around universities. Was surprised that all the people there were women. I suppose it was planned that way. Odd. Anyway, got fifty bucks for it, woohoo! Money for goodies! Wai, wai!
Went mall trolling afterward. Just made me think I need new clothes. Bah, I need to get rid of a lot of my old clothes, they're crappy. But I'm such a pack rat, I hate parting with anything. *sigh* My precious mathoms... Taking up space yet I loathe to part with them. Such is the pack rat's dilemma.
Pretty hobbit lass Friday, November 8, 2002 -|- 11:20 p.m.
Dressed up in my hobbit costume and went down to Book People tonight for a Two Towers book party and costume contest. I'm a bit frustrated though. I stayed at work longer than I meant to and helped put thread and fabric away. Really wish I had blown it off and just gone home. The party started at 7, I got home just after 6. Started a whirlwind of getting ready. Had to iron my skirts to freshen them up a bit and put up my hair for my wig and stick hair on my feet and get on my pointy ears. Not no mention walk the puppy! Arrrgh! I was finally laced into my hobbit bodice about an hour late. But I went anyway. It was neat. Unfortunately I missed the costume contest. Many was the person who said I should have gotten there earlier. Well, except for one girl who won something for her costume, she admitted my costume would have kicked hers' ass! But of course, my hairy feet rule! Seems there weren't as many LotR costumes as I thought. There were several SCA costumes seems like, but there was a Frodo. Got my picture taken with him :) They are having a moot at the Renaissance festival next Saturday, but I have Ushicon business then, darn it. I'd blow off seeing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets gladly to go, but I really shouldn't blow off the con meeting. Drat.
Stopped back by work after the party to show off my costume, all made with stuff from my store. They were suitably impressed. Unfortunately ended up taking advantage of a pattern sale and got more than I should have. But WMC, I now have an idea for an elven dress for you! I guess I'm good now. Just wish I had left work earlier. I could have had a prize! Oh well, got a Frodo Lives button. That's nifty enough.
New beginnings indeed Thursday, November 7, 2002 -|- 03:09 a.m.
Well here I am with a brand new sparkling pita. Isn't it pretty? Much thanks to WMC, even if she had to go and spoil the pristine virginity of it with the first post :p I'm still a bit in awe of it all, but I'm sure soon I'll be settled comfortably in it's hobbity goodness with a good stock of pipe weed and some tasty mushrooms to nibble on.
I told someone once that new beginnings are often celebrated as a turning point, some ceremony to look back on and remember later on. Something to mark there was a change that took place. It's a bit late to get drunk, think I'll just have a piece of pie. ;p
To new beginnings... Thursday, November 7, 2002 -|- 02:52 a.m.
WMC here. I have made this hobbity goodness for my friend Usagi. Though I still have a few things I need to fix... it is for the most part, done. So yeah! First virginal entry. Usagi, do you have anything to say?
